Dr. Sophie shares her time between Our Vet Kawana and Animal Emergency Service (AES) in Tanawha, giving her the opportunity to care for pets in both general practice and emergency medicine. Originally from Tasmania, Sophie completed her veterinary degree in Wagga Wagga before eventually travelling to enjoy the Queensland sunshine.

Sophie loves the variety that comes with being a veterinarian and enjoys building lasting relationships with both her patients and their families. She has a particular passion for surgery and finds it incredibly rewarding to help pets feel happier, healthier, and pain-free. Whether she's performing a routine procedure or tackling a more complex case, Sophie always approaches her work with kindness, dedication, and a smile.

When she's not in scrubs, you'll usually find Sophie whipping up something delicious in the kitchen, out for a run, exploring local mountain bike trails, or soaking up the sunshine at the beach. She loves staying active and making the most of the beautiful Sunshine Coast lifestyle.

Around the clinic, Sophie is known for her infectious enthusiasm, positive attitude, and caring nature. She's always up for a laugh, brings fantastic energy to the team, and genuinely loves what she does. We feel incredibly lucky to have Sophie as part of the Our Vet Kawana family, and we know your pets will love her just as much as we do!

Emily’s journey in veterinary nursing began at just 14 years old, where she gained hands-on experience and discovered her lifelong passion for caring for animals.

Emily has had the incredible opportunity to complete voluntary work at the world-renowned Australia Zoo, further strengthening her skills and deepening her love for all creatures great and small.

She holds Certificates II and III in Animal Studies and has just completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through The University of Queensland. With her strong knowledge, dedication, and enthusiasm, Emily is committed to providing exceptional care to every patient she meets.

At home, she’s kept busy caring for her own little zoo — three cats, a collection of fish, and a snake!

With over a decade in the animal industry, Katharine has been dedicated to caring for animals since 2011. After initially working with children, she discovered her true passion was veterinary medicine and began her vet nursing career in 2014. It was one of the best decisions she ever made.

As our Veterinary Business Manager, Katharine loves bringing together her veterinary knowledge and organisational skills to support both the team and the wonderful clients who trust us with their pets. She believes every pet deserves exceptional care, and every client deserves to feel welcomed and supported.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll usually find her making memories with her husband and daughter, adventuring with her rescue dog Tex, or dreaming about the day she gets to fulfil her bucket-list goal of working with elephants.
